Shale Skipping at Vermilion River

Yesterday was a beautiful late autumn day and we spent the morning at the metropark’s Vermilion River Reservation, walking and exploring the river. My daughter loves water – I think she was a fish in another life – and any opportunity to play, swim, splash or throw object in the water, she is a happy girl.

My husband tried showing her how to skip shale, which covers the banks of the Vermilion River and I don’t think she quite got it. She’d grab the largest rock she could carry and just plop it into the water 🙂 But…we all enjoyed the opportunity to breathe in the fresh air and soak up some sunshine!
