Ban Monsanto…and Save Our Bees!

European_honey_bee_extracts_nectarPresident Obama & Company’s continued protection of Monsanto is still baffling to me. According a recent article on DNA, Russia’s “Putin was so incensed over the Obama regimes refusal to discuss this grave matter that he refused for three hours to even meet with Kerry, who had traveled to Moscow on a scheduled diplomatic mission, but then relented so as to not cause an even greater rift between these two nations.”

At the center of this dispute between Russia and the US is the “undisputed evidence” that a class of neuro-active insecticides chemically related to nicotine are destroying our planets bee population. If this is left unchecked, it could destroy our world’s ability to grow enough food to feed its population. This has become so serious that, this past week, the full European Commission instituted a 2-year ban on these “bee killing” pesticides following the lead of Switzerland, France, Italy, Russia, Slovenia and Ukraine, all of whom had previously banned these most dangerous of genetically altered organisms from being used on the continent.

Why is the US so unwilling to recognize what a huge global issue this is? For such an “advanced” nation and a powerful leader, we are so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to protecting our coveted lands and the health of our own people.

“It is clear that these chemicals have the potential to affect entire food chains.”

Not many people are aware that honey bees are so crucial to our diets and the United States’ bee populations are in a nation-wide free fall because of Monsanto and Syngenta. Bees are responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat. Excluding grains, virtually all of our non-grain foods are dependent on honey bee pollination. Across the globe, there are 90 different food plants that depend almost exclusively on the honey bee. In America, honey bees are considered critical pollinators of many fruits, nuts and vegetables. Your own diet will be changed dramatically if we lose our honey bees! When the bees suffer, we all suffer. This is serious business.

  1. Seriously? I am the first one to like this? I had no idea as this wasn’t covered by main stream media which I happened to see. There should be outrage. We need the Bees! _ You should consider sending a link of this post to Earth Day websites and the Earth day Network. I will share it on twitter. Good post.

    • Thank you Mark, I really appreciate the feedback! I think just as quietly as President Obama signed the Monsanto Protection Act back in March, he is doing the same thing concerning this bee epidemic. Because if people knew, you are right, there would be public outrage over this! This insecticide is killing our bees, birds and fish…what is it doing to us? And yet we have NO clue that we are consuming these chemicals. Thanks for reading and sharing!

  2. I am disgusted by obamasbetrayal of all people by signing an agreement with monsanto. You are so corrupt obama. You are used by monsanto. And for what? Money? Support when you needed their votes for presidency? Let the bees live. Don’t poison our people and animals.
