Eco-model Summer Rayne Oakes recently made her debut at the Brooklyn Film Festival last month with this powerful short film called “eXtinction.” I watched it earlier this morning and it hasn’t left me all day. My mind is reeling, even now. There is a growing calling in me to get up and take action, to somehow contribute to this enormous problem we all face as one human race.
eXtinction is an environmental art short that brings together powerful storytelling and stirring imagery. It reveals that the most pressing environmental issues are not happening thousands of years from now, but are in fact happening within our lifetime — and specifically, on the timeline of one young woman’s life, from birth to death.
Harvey Weinstein praises eXtinction saying that, “It is an important film that everyone should see. Director Clayton Haskell artfully captures the beauty of planet earth, while Summer Rayne Oakes (producer/writer/actress) reminds us of the vital role we all have in keeping it that way.”
Please, take just 5 minutes right now to watch this powerful piece and really absorb the the enormity of the issues presented here. This is something every one of us need to be concerned about right now, this minute, today.
